How Did We Get Here?- PART 1

Before August 22', I hadn't entered the job market in nearly six years. That quickly changed after these two events:

- I finally graduated (it's never too late to return to school!)

and knew I wanted to switch industries

- With little explanation or warning from the company, a project I was contracted for (verbally agreement) unexpectedly did not pan out. Honestly, my feelings were hurt more than my pockets. I never expected this company to ghost me.

After only living in Colombia for 67 days, my aspirations of growing through travel would not feel this tangible since I began exploring in 2017. At this point, the thought, "What does this have to do with finding a job?" may have crossed your mind. For me, how, more importantly, where I want to live this life has everything to do with my job search.

In the immaturity of my professional mindset, I once believed my life should revolve around my work. Like many, this mentality shifted during the pandemic, and post-pandemic, it was nearly impossible for me to return to my old ways.

So my job search filters included "Remote Only," "NO administration," and "Entry level." After five weeks of rejection and no replies, people around me would say things like, "Are you sure you don't just want to go back to working full-time, in-office?" or "I am sure you would've found a job already if you applied for in-office work".

While I am sure they meant well (Life Lesson #002- Sometimes it pays not to listen to what others say), rejection does not deter me- it motivates me to push

forward. My faith in my abilities and all things working together for those who believe greatly outweighs my doubt and fears. I'll happily swim through 37 (the exact # of rejected applications) to get to that perfect YES!

This is where Winning by Design comes in.
